As we age, it's common for hormone levels to fluctuate. While estrogen is thought of as the primary female hormone, it also has a very important relationship with progesterone. If you have been experiencing health concerns such as irregular mood, low libido or changes in your menstrual cycle, it's important to take a deeper look at your estrogen and progesterone levels and their ratios to each other. Additionally, measuring your cortisol will give you an in depth look at how stress may be impacting your hormone levels and your overall health.
Living with issues like irregular menstrual cycles, fluctuating mood, decreased sex drive, weight gain and bloating, are not only indicators of something being off balance, but these issues can greatly impact your happiness day to day. Whether you've tested your estrogen levels and want to take a deeper dive, or suspect an imbalance with your hormones, this test will provide a comprehensive look at the key players when it comes to women's health and the intricate balance between the hormones; estrogen, progesterone and cortisol.
Guessing about your hormone health only adds to frustration and increases stress. Making changes to address one symptom, may only cause an imbalance to worsen. The good news is that when you take a comprehensive look at the range of hormones that support women's health, you will be able to make informed decisions and take the right steps towards a life in balance.
The primary form of estrogen that circulates through the body.
As we age, many women may continue to produce the same level as estrogen, while progesterone production drops. This can cause something known as estrogen dominance which can create unpleasant health issues such as mood changes, irregular cycles, weight gain and more.
A hormone that stimulates and regulates important functions in a woman's body.
Progesterone's main functions include preparing the body for conception and maintaining pregnancy, as well as regulating menstrual cycles and playing a role in sexual desire. Progesterone is a precursor to cortisol. If cortisol levels increase, progesterone levels can decrease, further contributing to the imbalance as it relates to estrogen.
A hormone that regulates stress and can impact the balance of progesterone and estrogen.
Cortisol, the body's stress hormone, is made from precursors that include progesterone. If stress levels are high on an ongoing basis, progesterone levels may decrease, disrupting the balance of estrogen and progesterone in the body.
