- Cortisone: The inactive form of cortisol after it is metabolized.
- Cortisol is reversibly metabolized to its inactive form, cortisone.
- Looking at both cortisol and cortisone together gives a better picture of the total cortisol production by the adrenals.
- Creatinine: A waste product made by your muscles as part of regular, daily activity.
- Your kidneys work to filter creatinine as well as other waste products out of your blood.
- After being filtered, these waste products are then expelled from your body in urine and can be a supporting indicator in your lab results.

What To Expect
- How will I receive my results and my coaching call to review those results? Once you receive your at-home lab test, please follow the instructions provided to register your test. Once your sample(s) are sent to one of our CLIA-certified labs, it will take approximately 3 weeks for your results to be returned, during which time you will receive information on how to schedule your one-on-one health coaching call.
- Can I collect my urine sample if I am on my menstrual cycle? No, please wait until your menstrual cycle is complete before collecting your urine sample to ensure it is not contaminated.
- Do at-home lab tests expire? All at-home lab tests expire 6 months from their purchase date. To ensure you will receive your results, please be sure to send all samples for completed lab tests prior to the 6-month expiration date. Unfortunately, there can be no returns or replacement lab tests sent after the 6-month time frame. Please remember to register your labs prior to sending your sample to the laboratory.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Sleep and Stress Test measure?
It measures 16 markers from urine samples collected at set times of the day: free cortisol, free cortisone, melatonin and creatinine. Together they show when your cortisol peaks, when your melatonin rises and how the two balance across your day and night.
How do I collect my sample?
With simple urine samples collected at home at the times shown in the included instructions. If you menstruate, please wait until your cycle is complete before collecting. Then return your samples to our CLIA-certified laboratory in the packaging provided.
How long do results take?
Approximately three weeks after the laboratory receives your sample. Your results are delivered through EquiLife's health portal with an invitation to schedule your 30-minute one-on-one health coaching call.
Is this a diagnostic test?
No. EquiLife labs are functional wellness tests processed at CLIA-certified laboratories. They give you and your health coach information about your current status and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Please share your results with your healthcare provider for any medical questions.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
The Sleep and Stress Test is HSA and FSA eligible. Eligibility is determined by your plan administrator, so please check your plan's requirements.
