Estrogen is an important sex hormone for women. As a steroid hormone, it diffuses across cell membranes, delivering messages and helping regulate sexual function, fertility, and body weight. There are three forms of estrogen that circulate through the body, estrone, estradiol, and estriol. Estrogen levels change naturally over time, and those levels can create drastic changes. Our test checks the levels of estradiol, the primary form of estrogen found in the body. Estrogen that is out of balance can bring on irritability, drastic mood changes, hot flashes, and weight gain. Testing your estrogen levels with a simple at-home saliva sample can provide valuable insight into your estradiol levels, enabling you to take charge of your health.
What’s Measured
- Estradiol (E2): The primary form of estrogen that circulates through the body.
- There are three types of estrogen that circulate through the body: Estrone (E1) is the primary form of estrogen that your body makes after menopause.
- Estradiol (E2) is formed primarily in the ovaries and in small amounts by the adrenal glands and is the form of estrogen active during the reproductive years.
- It's the most potent form of estrogen.
- Estriol (E3) is the primary form of estrogen during pregnancy.
- Testing estrone and estriol does not reveal very much about overall hormonal conditions.
- Estradiol (E2), however, is a key indicator of overall estrogen health and the hormone examined during this test.

- Results & Review: Once your samples have been processed, you will receive an invitation through EquiLife's health portal to schedule your one-on-one health coaching call to review your results in depth.

What To Expect
- How will I receive my results and my coaching call to review those results? Once you receive your at-home lab test, please follow the instructions provided to register your test. Once your sample(s) are sent to one of our CLIA-certified labs, it will take approximately 3 weeks for your results to be returned, during which time you will receive information on how to schedule your one-on-one health coaching call.

- What is the recommended timing for the collection of my saliva sample? We recommend collecting your sample on a normal stress day upon waking.
- Do I need to avoid anything prior to collecting my saliva samples? Do not eat, drink (except water), or brush teeth at least 2 hours prior to collections.
- Do at-home lab tests expire? All at-home lab tests expire 6 months from their purchase date. To ensure you will receive your results, please be sure to send all samples for completed lab tests prior to the 6-month expiration date. Unfortunately, there can be no returns or replacement lab tests sent after the 6-month time frame. Please remember to register your labs prior to sending your sample to the laboratory.

What does the Estrogen Test measure?
It measures estradiol (E2) from a saliva sample. Estradiol is the primary and most potent form of estrogen circulating in the body and a key indicator of overall estrogen status.
How do I collect my sample?
With a simple saliva sample at home, collected upon waking on a normal stress day. Do not eat, drink (except water), or brush your teeth for at least two hours before collecting; then follow the included instructions and return your sample to our CLIA-certified laboratory in the packaging provided.
How long do results take?
Approximately three weeks after the laboratory receives your sample. Your results are delivered through EquiLife's health portal with an invitation to schedule your 30-minute one-on-one health coaching call.
Is this a diagnostic test?
No. EquiLife labs are functional wellness tests processed at CLIA-certified laboratories. They give you and your health coach information about your current status and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Please share your results with your healthcare provider for any medical questions.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
