When it comes to protecting your heart, watching your cholesterol and blood pressure won't always give you the complete picture. Inflammation levels are often a much better indicator of overall cardiovascular health and ongoing inflammation can lead to a number of other troubling health issues if left undetected. This at-home lab will measure the ratio of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fats in order to analyze if there may be concerning levels of inflammation, which can negatively impact numerous systems in the body.

Detecting Inflammation

What is Measured

Omega-6:Omega-3 EPA/AA

Key measurement for looking at levels of inflammation throughout your body

Omega-3's and 6's are essential in the diet since our body can not manufacture them on its own. Omega-6's also serve an important purpose and are more widely available in the diet, so there's a potential for imbalance between inflammatory and anti-inflammatory fats.

Optimal levels of omega-3's result in decreased inflammation which works to support cardiovascular health, cognitive function, mood, immune function, and provide nutrients for healthy skin, hair, and nails.

AA (Arachidonic Acid) from processed foods, fried foods, fatty cuts of animal protein can throw off our AA/EPA ratio leading to more inflammation in the body

  • Ideal ratio is estimated at ⅔:1 Omega-6 to Omega-3
  • For optimal health AA/EPA ratio is 5:1 or better

Good Test

Bought this test for my son to hopefully get some more info into why he's having certain health issues. Test arrived quickly, was easy to complete and send back. Now waiting for results and consultation. I have done other Equi.Life At Home Lab Tests and im extremely pleased with this company and everything they offer.

Wonderful lab!

This is such a wonderful lab to test your inflammation levels and your omega 6 to omega 3 ratios. I took this test before and it was accurate based on my fish and fish oil consumption. I'm retesting to see if I have improved on those markers.
